Case study

How Dropea built more than 100 e-commerce stores on Odoo and PrestaShop

Dropea, uKodeIT's own brand, was born on Odoo v8 — when Odoo didn't even have native web integration yet — and has since built more than 100 e-commerce and dropshipping stores, with full stock management and several distributors across different areas connected in the same system.

The starting point

Dropea started on Odoo v8, at a time when Odoo still had no native web integration — the online store and the internal management lived in separate worlds. The challenge was building the bridge: a PrestaShop connected to Odoo capable of holding the catalogue, stock and orders of multiple stores at once, with distributors spread across different geographical areas.

What was implemented

More than 100 stores

More than 100 e-commerce stores built on the same system, with full stock management and several distributors across different areas connected.

Data loading

A custom PrestaShop module to load and maintain the catalogue from the different distributors, with no manual store-by-store work.

Multi-warehouse shipping cost

A custom module that recalculates shipping cost when stock is split across several warehouses — without it, cost spiked with every new warehouse.

100% integration

From buying the domain to the sale itself, product search included: the whole process lives in the same integrated system.

In-house infrastructure

In-house virtualization on Proxmox, with no dependency on third parties for each store's hosting.

The precedent: a self-built update system

Dropea built its own migration system: near-automatic updates to every new Odoo and PrestaShop version, with the option to install an earlier version while it wasn't yet deprecated. That wasn't a coincidence — it's the historical precedent for the methodology we apply today on every implementation: your Odoo updates; so do your developments.

The balance, years later: technologically, Dropea met every need of the project — and became a real school of e-commerce and dropshipping for the team.

And the project keeps its own AI trainer

uKodeIT and uKITAIz are the same company. On implementations like Dropea's, the project can be handed over with its own AI model trained as a special trainer: the team can ask, at any time, about the specifications and processes of the project itself, in natural language. It's always a private AI — trained for the project and deployable on controlled infrastructure, with no dependency on third-party clouds. It's offered as part of the implementation service, not as a uKore feature.
